A shift in direction
The early 90’s saw a change of direction for both people and nations. Jay Leno replaces Johnny Carson on the “Tonight Show”, the Mastricht Treaty founding the European Union is signed, and the World Wide Web is born. A new generation gets its Woodstock, and Austria, Finland and Sweden join the EU. Around the same time, Astra Tech switches directions with its new LoFric Insti-Cath, applying Urotonic Surface Technology to a catheter designed to safely and comfortably instil pharmaceuticals into the bladder.

LoFric® Insti-Cath™ LoFric Insti-Cath was developed to help health care professionals with secure instillation of pharmaceuticals into the bladder, a need brought to the attention of Astra Tech by the medical care community. Safety is ensured by the luer-lock connector, minimising the risk of involuntary exposure to the drugs. The Urotonic Surface Technology minimises friction throughout the instillation.
